During his meeting last night with more than 20 Democratic governors, Biden said that he needs to get more rest, work fewer hours and cut his events off at 8 p.m., according to the New York Times.
Multiple people familiar with the conversation told the Times Biden said he needed to get more sleep prior to the debate last week, since he'd been traveling extensively in the weeks leading up to it. He also admitted he'd been pushing himself too hard and not listening to his team about his schedule.
When one governor asked about his current health status, Biden reportedly said he was fine and joked, “It’s just my brain.”
The meeting was intended to reassure the governors that he is capable of challenging Trump and functioning as president, even as current and former officials say they've noticed Biden lapsing into confusion or listlessness more frequently.
But despite recent calls from congressional lawmakers for him to withdraw from the race, Biden said he's committed to staying in.
